Yo!

Last week I tried something new: making yogurt! I came across this post and just had to give it a try. It looked so simple yet so appealing. I recently became addicted to this yogurt and while I love it, it's pricey! So I thought it was worth a try to see if I could get a similar taste by making it at home.

Here are the progress shots.

I'm so happy with the result. Thick, creamy yogurt. Plain, simple, ready for any embellishment. I used organic whole milk for this batch, with plain Stonyfield yogurt as my starter. I may experiment with 2% milk next time, just to see the difference. If you're a yogurt lover, I highly recommend giving this a try. It's easy and fun.

Look in your local co-op or supermarket to find Skur - it's an Icelandic yogurt - not as tart as American and very thick.

I may have to try this! Skur is hard to find here - my family usually smuggles it in from Iceland.

Good for you, that looks delicious.

Very cool! I'd like to know how the 2% goes... I'm trying to get away from excess food packaging, and yogurt is really bad for that - I may have to try this!

that looks so yummy. I've wanted to try making my own yogurt for awhile now. I was thinking about getting on eof the yogurt makers, but you make it seem easy without one.

I was just thinking about trying this recently! I saw a new yogurt maker at a yard sale last weekend.. but I passed it by... now I wish I'd picked it up!
