Shoeless Joe, meet Bobbi No-Ears

I knew this was going to happen. Just felt it in my gut the entire time I've been knitting this big-headed guy. I remember reading on someone else's blog that they, too, ran out of yarn while knitting Baby Bobbi. But I ignored it. Decided to roll the dice. And I lost.

Poor little guy. Here's the sad shot. The yarn remaining is sitting where one of his little ears should be. Notice the other side of the head doesn't have anything to cover the embarrassing bald spot.

So, now I'll be forced to buy another skein of Blue Sky Alpacas yarn just for the few yards needed for the ears. Sigh. If I could just go buy it at my LYS, that wouldn't be so bad. But this was an order from Purl, and at the time they had only three skeins in this color. Now I'll have to place an order again just for a single skein. Hmmm...I wonder what else I could buy to make the ordering more worthwhile?

So sad!

Maybe you could find some scrap yarn in another question and give him different colored ears? Or tufts of hair? Just a thought.

Such a cute little pattern, though! How big (small) is he?

Oh my gosh, that makes me laugh. Not at your predicament, but at the no-ears! Oh no! Does Kristin have any extra yarn? Do any of the LYS's carry Blue Sky yet? I can't remember if the Studio does or not. Sheesh! Good luck, he will have to learn sign language while he waits.

Aw. Poor little guy! He turned out so cute, though! Definitely worth getting another skein (or six!).

He's still awfully darn cute.

Oh goodness. Ears schmears! If you really don't want to order more yarn from Purl (or maybe this is the perfect opportunity to get to order more yarn) then maybe you could post on some of the knitting boards to see if anyone has any extra of that color and you could trade for it?

Ears or not...he's adorable! Maybe there's a back story...like Brave Bobbie Bear lost his ears in a mighty battle to save Babby Bobbi Bear!

Love your bear, even without the ears.. kind of looks like a gingerbread man :)

I ran out of wool making this bear and my yarn came from Purl as well. I decided to make a non-matching arm and different colour ears as well. I also gave her earrings to make up for the poor start in life. My bear looks great, if a little unorthodox. She's on my blog in recent archives.

How about a jaunty cap of another color?

So sad! Bobbie looks very forlorn. Maybe a wig in the mean time? He'd look awfully cute with a big curly fro.

Uh oh. I just bought that pattern this weekend and three skeins of yarn. Does it take more than the recommended amount of yarn?

Poor Bobbi! It's so frustrating to get *THIS* close to the end and not have enough yarn! He looks like he's taking it very well, though. He puts on a brave face.
