Pass the Pepto

I'm officially sick of making these bags. That doesn't mean I won't ever knit one again. They're cute. Functional--and fun. People notice them and like them. It's just that I've made too many, too close together.

This one was knit as a favor for a friend. She chose the yarn and I agreed to make it for her. Perhaps part of the reason I enjoyed this one less was that I didn't love the color combo. She insisted that a very low contrast in color was what she wanted, so I wasn't able to convince her to move toward the brighter pinks.

I did suggest adding the stripe, to add a *little* pizzaz. And, O.K., to keep myself just a little entertained while knitting!

So, before this one goes to its new owner, I leave you with this parting shot.

Just shoot me if I mention making another anytime soon!

I'm with you, Leslie. Couldn't stop making them for a while, but d-o-n-e now. They've all been delivered to their recipients on my trip so I am officially 'unbuttoned'.

Well I just love it :o)
And I am not sick of them yet. tee hee!

My friend just finished her first bag and just went ahead and made a little wallet using pretty much the same pattern.

I can't believe her gumption. (is that the word)
She just learned to knit two months ago and has bypassed this old knitter in the design dept. in one fell swoop!

Thanks for sharing such a cute pattern with all of us.

Amy, it's not white, just a very pale pink. I have used an off-white Cascade 220 before, but only as a very small stripe in a tote bag. I did a test swatch first and it worked fairly well, so I went with it.

Homeschooler, I think the option to carry a wool bag in summer is purely personal. I've carried mine off and on, although sometimes it's just too hot up against my body and I have to shelve it for a while!

your bags are beautiful! How much did you alter the pattern? your seem to be higher than the mason-dixon pattern and I'd like to make one more like your shape...

Tara, I did alter the pattern. For the two pink bags (knit with Cascade) I knit 17 rows in the stratight knitting section of the pattern. For my turquoise bag, I only knit 12 rows, and the green bag (Lamb's Pride), I knit 15 rows. In some cases, I also knit a couple of extra rows on the handle (above the buttonhole). Hope that helps!
