Zulu for me, too

I admit I'm a copycat. I see something wonderful on another blog, and suddenly I must have it! (Within reason, of course. I'm still my frugal self, after all.) Anyway, just before my birthday last week I saw these on Scout's blog, then again on Amy's. I was suddenly in love. About the same time, my husband was wondering what I might want for my birthday. Easy-peasy!

Now I have my own beautiful pile of beads.

In case you didn't read about these, they're Zulugrass, beads of grass(!) hand-dyed by Maasai women in Kenya. It's awesome jewelry made by very talented women, and some of the profit from your purchase goes back to them. Very cool. I have a feeling I'll be adding more strands to my stash (a new stash!) in the future.

So pretty! One of the local shops here sells those. I must give them another look.

Now why did you have to do that? Being a mom of three young kids, I don't get out all that much. I had no idea they even existed until now. Again, why? I love them! They will be perfect for birthday gifts and maybe just one for me too.
Thanks for he information about the collage. I am going to give it a go by hand with my photo program. We'll both be copycats.
I appreciate the comment about the cake too - it was a lot of work, so I love the compliments!

Leslie, this post makes me laugh! Why? Because I read Scout's post and hunted these down in my locale as well! Yesterday found me trying on *uncountable* combinations, to the point where I left without anything...but with plans to calm down and go back on Friday to make a final selection. :-)
They are SO pretty!! (And a good cause, too...how can you resist?)

Those are way cool! I just might have to look into those. Besides, I like buying stuff that directly helps the people who make it :o)

I love these! Did you buy them online? I can only find a necklace with woden beads at the back. I'd love to get some bracelets like yours. It would make a perfect gift for my SIL.
