Babyland

I can't get away from baby knits right now. My parents visited us this weekend and Mom wanted a quick, cute gift for an upcoming baby shower. Say no more! With pattern in hand, we were off to the Yarn Shop to buy yarn and needles for my mom's gift.

Since I couldn't bear just being a bystander, I pulled out a small bit of leftover Koigu and--fingers crossed that I had enough yarn--we both cast on. Here's the colorful result.

They're so tiny! The pattern called for a somewhat larger gauge yarn, so I'm hoping these will fit some newborn feet, at least for a few days! The pattern--from Simple Knits for Cherished Babies by Erika Knight--was very fun and easy. Mom wasn't too sure about the small needles and yarn she chose, but got into the rhythm quickly and is ready to seam up her pair next.

These little Koigu booties will travel with the log cabin blanket and this hat (pattern here) to my cousin and his wife, who may be having their baby boy today!

Leslie, those are so adorable! (The hat, too!) I think Koigu is the perfect yarn for baby gifts...so soft. And the color of your items will be perfect for a little boy!

I love the booties! What colorway Koigu is that?

I love these adorable booties and the hat. I would love to try the hat, but don't think I'm quite there yet. I enjoy your blog and it is thanks to your picture some time back of the precious baby bear (with spoon)that spurred me to find the pattern and start one!

Reminds me of the poem:
Which is the way to Baby-land?
Anyone can tell;
Up one flight,
To your right.
Please ring the bell.

What can you see in Baby-land?
Little folks in white -
Downy heads,
Cradle-beds,
Faces pure and bright!
(excerpt fom Baby-Land by George Cooper)

Same questions as asked above, Lesie. Which Koigu colorway is that? And also is the hat pattern also in the Knights book? I got that book the other day and it has some really cute things in it. Thanks for the recommendation. Chelle

Sorry, I now see that you offered a link to the free pattern of the little Baby Hat with Leaf Edging. Let me say, though, that yours is much cuter than the picture in the pattern because of the great rainbow colorway you selected. Now I just need to know which colorway that is in Koigu. Thanks, Chelle

Chelle, the Koigu dye code is P122, lot 229. This skein I purchased several years ago, so I hope the color codes are still the same!
