And so it begins

Though Memorial Day is the "official" summer kickoff, this weekend seemed like the start of the season for me. The temperatures soared and we found ourselves making a beeline for the City Market to search for goodies of all kinds.

City Market, Kansas City

I'd forgotten what fun it can be to spend a morning there! We came home with limes, bananas, lettuce, tomatoes, and a zucchini plant (wish me luck with that). Oh, and since I rarely pass up the chance for a small treat, we tried the mascarpone caramel pistachio gelato from the Italian deli. A winner, for sure!

I also discovered a new favorite shop--Vintiques. This place is packed full of vintage finds you can use to create unique works of art or just display in your home. There's even a workshop for those inclined to linger a while and let the creative juices flow.

I've decided we need to revisit more of our local attractions this summer for fun (and often free!) entertainment. How will you celebrate the arrival of this glorious time of year?

kc looks like a great town and what a great market!
we are planning on passing through there this summer on our way to colorado (or maybe the return trip). i may have to plan it so we can hit the market. that gelato alone looks like it would be worth the stop : )

Sounds really lovely!
I remember going to a market like this in downtown KC when I lived there, and it seems like this is the same one!
