My parents were here for a brief visit this weekend and I actually had two socks to give Mom this time! I only managed to finish one in time for her birthday, but I made a point to focus on the second one and to have it done before I saw her again. She was very pleased with her very first pair of handknit socks!

The yarn is Trekking XXL, color #108. The pattern is the Openwork Rib from Charlene Schurch's book Sensational Knitted Socks. It was fun to try something new, though I think I'm really just a simple stockinette sock girl at heart! Time to cast on a new pair.

Wonderful socks.
I'm starting to think I might have to branch out from basic ribbed cuff/stockinette foot socks one of these days.
Hooray! They're done and they're perfect!
Hi Leslie -- nice socks! And I'm looking forward to seeing your version of the Baby Styles from Beehive. :)
That pattern is great for the Trekking Yarn! I feel you, though. I like me a plain stockinette sock most of the time.
Those are so pretty! And thanks for your kind comment and the reminder that I am not alone in the well-intentioned-yet-fluid deadline department!
ohhhh very nice! I love the colors
