Fetching...or not

I was happy to finish these cute little mitts this morning, from the summer 2006 issue of Knitty.

Admire for just a moment...that's about how long my joy lasted, before I noticed this.

Arggh! Can you believe my mistake? Oh, yes, it's so obvious now.

Unfortunately, I noticed the missed cable repeat in the right-hand mitt AFTER binding off the thumb this morning. When I dug out the first mitt and tried them on, then took them off to admire them together. Yeah.

Sigh.

And I know I *could* undo the cast on edge and add another cable repeat, but I'm not sure it's that important to me. Maybe in a couple of days, after I lay these aside for a bit. Obviously I was in a hurry to get on with the next project, so maybe that's best for now.

Hopefully this isn't how the rest of my week will go!

The look great! If that mitt long enough, I would just leave it. You can't tell unless you are looking very closely.

Just keep the jazz hands going and nobody will notice the cabling. :) And, unless you're getting handcuffed, how often do you put your wrists side-by-side? ;)
pretty color!

Oh bummer!

I had the same thought as Plazajen: how often are your hands right next to each other so as to notice? If anybody says anything, just claim it as a design choice.

That is just the best! I AM sorry for you - not fun to discover a fatal flaw, but what a great laught I got out of it!! The picture was so lovely that it took me forEVER to notice the "flaw". Don't worry about it - they're just lovely. And thanks for the boost today!

Aw, man. That's just something I would have done. I do think they're lovely mitts!

Great color! I agree with everyone -- it took some close looking to see the oversight.

If it's any consolation, I think I made a similar mistake when I made my second mitt. You'll find a photo of mitt # 1 on my blog, but you will not find a photo of mitt # 2. You know, because, uh... I wanted to get the pair in the mail to the giftee right away (aka, without anyone noticing the error).

Cheers!
