A rose-y birthday

Another lovely birthday celebration for a friend took place today, which means my fingers were busily sewing another small felt cake yesterday! Don't ask why I don't work ahead...I just always seem to crank these out the day before they're gifted. Something about deadline pressure, I guess.

This particular cake is one of my favorites...I actually added a small amount of embroidery, which I really enjoy doing. It's very relaxing and adds a nice little detail. The ribbon rose gave me more problems that it should have, but I finally got it to look the way I wanted it to.

Just one more of these little cakes to go now...an October birthday, then all my birthday lunch friends will be covered. One of these days I'll have to make one for myself!

Hmm, I'll definetly look into Lorna's. I've discovered sock knitting, and to me it's the perfect project. You can completely experiment with any technique because they're small, yes, but with enough knitting room to make some pretty snazzy designs.
Adorable b-day cake btw!
