Keeping tabs

The Tab Top Tote from Felted Knits came out of the wash looking lovely! I'm very happy with how it felted and the final size. Pre-felting, the bag was about 15" tall by 15" wide. After its trip through the felting machine, it's now 10.5" tall and 12" wide.

For anyone thinking of knitting this pattern, I'll warn you that I needed quite a bit more yardage than the pattern specified. The pattern called for 350 yards of worsted weight wool, so I purchased two skeins of Big Kureyon (color #12 for anyone interested). That translates to 320 meters, or 350 yards. Should have been plenty, right?

Well, before I completed the body of the bag, I could tell the yarn wasn't going to hold out. I actually stopped 10 rows short of the total specified so I could save back some yarn for the second base. Having decided that, I bought a skein of Lamb's Pride in a coordinating teal (color M-52) so I could knit the i-cord and add pockets (not part of the pattern). I also needed just a bit of the Lamb's Pride for the base--and actually ended up using at least half the skein for all these pieces.

At any rate, I'm happy with the way it turned out. Now there's just a little more drying needed, then this can go in the Christmas gift-giving pile. Whew!

It looks great, Leslie. Nice job on coordinating colors, too - I think the recipient should be VERY happy! Toot, Toot! (that's your horn)

It looks great! I love the coordinationg i-cord. It really sets the whole thing off. I want to see how you did the pockets too. When are you going to come back to knit nite?

Okay, so I have that book and I've never been tempted to do another felted bag until this very minute, after I saw yours. Absolutely gorgeous, Leslie.
