Bring on the wool

It finally feels like fall around here, which means winter will blow in before we know it. The leaves are just starting to change, and I'm anxious for the full-blown color show to get started. The change to cooler weather always makes me more interested in staying indoors and picking up the knitting needles. The wool feels good on a day like today!

Hands are often the first to suffer from the damp, chilly air, so a pair of fingerless mitts seems like just the right accessory. My daughter isn't prone to wearing gloves or mittens, but fingerless mitts have a bit more style. When she requested a pair to match her new pea coat, I was happy to oblige. Her only request was that they be extra soft, so together we chose this yarn in a delicate ice blue color.

We looked at several patterns and she liked this one best, so off I went. This pattern is easy to follow, and I successfully finished these after just a couple of nights of TV knitting.

Fetching

She is very pleased with the outcome and I think they look great with her coat. Now I need a pair to keep my hands warm! Malabrigo, anyone?

Project notes: Nashua Handknits Creative Focus Worsted, 75% wool, ,25% alpaca, knit on size 6 DPNs. Fetching pattern free on Knitty, Summer 2006.

Your workmanship and photography make Fetchings so enticing! I want to put everything aside in favor of making a pair.
