Ho, Ho, Ho--a real FO!

Wow, it feels like Christmas around here. Not only because of all the decorations, packages, cards and to-do lists. But also because I finally finished the shawl that's been on my needles these past two months.

Noro shawl

It's hard to photograph something this large, but I gave it my best shot. I'm so pleased with the outcome of this project. You may remember, this is the feather and fan comfort shawl by Sarah Bradberry. A very easy pattern to knit, and fun too.

Noro shawl folded

I used eight skeins of Noro Silk Garden Lite--colors 2033, 2010, 2027 and 2018. As is the case with Noro, there were some colors that didn't seem quite right, but the only one I cut out entirely was the hot pink. I generally *love* hot pink, but not with the combination going in this shawl.

The pattern allows for different sizes, and I wanted this fairly large. I was able to get through nearly three repeats of the repeat section; I stopped just a few rows short as I feared the yarn wouldn't last! I think it was a good decision and I'm happy with the size. It measures a full 90 inches across the top after washing and very gentle blocking. It was so hard to tell the actual size until it was off the needles!

Now it's time to package this up and mail it to my friend who's battling cancer right now. My hope is that it will bring some comfort and warmth through the winter months ahead. Many prayers and blessings were knit into this shawl, and many will travel with it as well.
