Take a hike!

I have a sudden hankering to make this.

It's the Irish Hiking Scarf, designed and available free on Adrian's site, hello yarn.

I think it would make a great Christmas gift for my husband. And considering I've never knit anything for him...and he never complains about all the yarn and knitting going on around him...I think I'm going to do it!

I've been surfing the 'net looking for just the right yarn. I'm considering the Debbie Bliss Cashmerino...or Indecita Baby Alpaca...or a Cashmere Aran available at Woolwinders. I just can't settle on the right thing. I don't want it TOO fuzzy for a man to wear, but I do want it soft, not itchy. I'm thinking dark gray or even black, since he mostly wears a black leather jacket in the winter.

Anyway, I think I'll hit at least one of my LYS tomorrow and see what I can find "in person" before making up my mind. Anyone want to join me? There's a KAL already set up!

ooh, I have the perfect yarn for you! My newest fiber-obsession is hand-spun, hand-painted yarn from www.handpaintedyarn.com. I bought the merino in a worsted weight...it's SO DELICIOUS, the softest wool I've ever felt!! My boyfriend actually digs this yarn, so I'm making a scarf for him with it! It's really very affordable for the incredible quality you're getting! 7.50 for over 200 yards! Definitely check it out ;)
