Simply poetic

I finally gathered together all the pieces to Haiku and got busy seaming. I had a couple of false starts on the shoulders--it had been so long since I'd sewn a garment together, I couldn't get things to look right.

After two tries on the shoulder seams, I decided to move on to the sleeves. Suddenly, I could see what I'd been doing wrong before! I finished seaming both sleeves, then ripped the shoulder seams out again and seamed them a third time. Success! I was glad it finally came back to me.

Here's the wee little sweater in its final form.



This is the smallest size of the Haiku pattern from Knitty, knit with Artyarns supermerino. I'm guessing it won't fit the newborn I'm giving it to until about a year from now, possibly more. The only pattern change I made was to eliminate the buttons down the front. I think for a baby cardigan, one button at the neck should be sufficient. Babies don't usually take kindly to being fussed with too much!
